An Atlantic City boy seen beating a helpless dog in a video posted online was located in North Carolina, local authorities said Monday.

The horrifying video shows the boy holding the dog down as he hits him repeatedly, then picks the animal up and slams his body against the floor.

Police on March 5 were alerted to the video, which shows the boy holding the dog down as he hits him repeatedly. The boy then picks the animal up and slams his body against the floor.

Police identified the boy and interviewed family members over the weekend, Atlantic City police said.

The boy's family cooperated with the investigation.

"The incident occurred while the juvenile was staying at a family member’s residence in North Carolina," the ACPD said.

"The local police department in that jurisdiction has been notified and provided necessary information from detectives."
